Nelly Korda & Co Hilariously Corner Lexi Thompson Amid Solheim Cup Preps: ‘Not My Cup of Tea’

Team USA is bringing both high spirits and humor to their Solheim Cup preparations as they gear up to avenge their 2023 loss to Team Europe. The 2023 defeat at Finca Cortesin, Spain, was a bitter pill for the Americans, but now, at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, they are more determined than ever. Among the intense training and strategies, lighthearted moments have surfaced—this time involving Nelly Korda, Alison Lee, and a humorous jab at Lexi Thompson.

In a recently shared Instagram video by the Solheim Cup USA team, a group of golfers, including Korda, Lee, Rose Zhang, Sarah Schmelzel, Allisen Corpuz, Lilia Vu, and Thompson herself, were asked who they wouldn’t trust with the aux cord during a car jam session. Surprisingly, the majority pointed fingers at Lexi Thompson.

Alison Lee led the playful charge, jokingly sharing her rationale: “Probably Lexi. I heard that she liked hardcore metal. And I don’t know if that’s my vibe.” Nelly Korda, echoing her friend, added, “That is not my cup of tea,” making it clear that Thompson’s music taste wasn’t for her either. Soon after, Zhang and Corpuz followed suit, with Corpuz initially opting to withhold the aux from herself due to her eclectic music preferences. However, upon learning that Thompson was a hard rock fan, she quickly changed her mind, laughingly adding, “Oh no way. Can I change my answer to Lexi?”

Not everyone, however, pointed at Thompson. Lilia Vu and Lauren Coughlin modestly chose themselves, while Sarah Schmelzel humorously disqualified Ally Ewing, citing her lack of appreciation for Taylor Swift as “blasphemy.” In contrast, Vu admitted to being a Swiftie, which made Ewing’s distaste all the more shocking. Schmelzel, who holds a deep appreciation for Taylor Swift, was on Thompson’s radar for aux denial.

Though this playful exchange centered around music preferences, it serves as a reminder that camaraderie and fun often play a vital role in team dynamics, especially ahead of high-stakes tournaments like the Solheim Cup. With a mix of teasing, laughter, and a bit of competition, the USA team appears to be bonding even more tightly ahead of their upcoming showdown with Team Europe.

In another amusing Solheim Cup video, Megan Khang was seen touring the team room, which included a large entertainment area featuring a karaoke setup. In the spirit of fun, Khang belted out Miley Cyrus’s “Party in the U.S.A.,” admitting it “might annoy a lot of teammates.” With such entertainment options, it’s clear the team knows how to unwind between practice sessions. After Khang’s impromptu performance, she might be the next one after Thompson to be excluded from controlling the music!

As the Solheim Cup inches closer, it’s clear that Team USA is not only refining their skills but also fostering strong bonds that may prove to be their secret weapon. With Korda, Lee, Thompson, and the rest of the crew sharing laughs and light-hearted banter, fans are left to wonder: could this playful team chemistry give them the edge they need?

Stay tuned to see if Team USA’s fun-filled preparation translates into victory on the course.
