According to a DP World Tour spokesperson, Rahm failed to comply with the tour’s regulations, specifically regarding participation in conflicting tournaments. This has led to sanctions that must be resolved before he can participate in any DP World Tour events, including the upcoming Spanish Open. The situation has cast doubt on his ability to compete in the 2025 Ryder Cup, as maintaining his tour membership is a crucial requirement.

The primary issue revolves around Rahm’s refusal to pay the fines imposed for playing in LIV Golf tournaments without obtaining the necessary permissions from the DP World Tour. Other players, such as Tyrrell Hatton, have appealed similar fines and have been able to return to play. However, Rahm’s outright refusal to address the sanctions could lead to the loss of his DP World Tour membership, as he is required to play in at least four events in 2024 to remain eligible.

With only a few remaining tournaments in the 2024 season, Rahm faces an increasingly narrow window to fulfill his obligations.
