Mewis visits the Sam Kerr Football Centre in Perth
On August 31, 2024, Kristie Mewis, midfielder for West Ham United Women’s team, visited the Sam Kerr Football Centre in Perth during her team’s tour of Australia. This facility, named in honor of Mewis’ fiancée Sam Kerr, a celebrated Australian footballer and Chelsea player, was inaugurated before the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The centre, which served as a training hub for several World Cup teams and will be the home ground for Perth Glory Women in the 2024/25 season, features two full-size elite pitches, three five-a-side pitches, and seating for about 700 spectators.

Mewis, who had a meaningful tour experience, expressed her pride and admiration for Kerr’s impact on the sport, reflecting on the facility as a testament to Kerr’s influence and inspiration. As her team’s tour nears its end, Mewis is optimistic about the positive impact of their visit on the upcoming season and values the opportunity to immerse herself in Australian football culture.
