Scheffler, who has enjoyed a remarkable year by clinching the Masters and the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Games, has also accumulated a substantial £41.2 million in earnings from seven PGA Tour victories.

Despite McIlroy’s playful comment suggesting a change in putter, Scheffler’s transition from his previous Scotty Cameron Timeless Tourtype GSS putter to the TaylorMade Spider Tour X was a decision he had been contemplating independently.

In response to recent speculation, Scheffler clarified that his putter change was a result of his own reflection and consultations with his putting coach, rather than McIlroy’s influence. During a recent podcast appearance, Scheffler emphasized that while McIlroy’s comment about the mallet-style putter might have coincided with his new equipment choice, it was not the driving factor behind his decision. Scheffler expressed that the change was part of his personal development process to refine his game, underscoring that McIlroy’s remarks were more about addressing broader discussions than directly impacting his equipment choices.
