Finally got vindicated”Charley Hull gets permission from captain to smoke at Solheim Cup
Charley Hull has received permission from her team captain, Suzanne Pettersen, to smoke during the Solheim Cup, set to begin this Friday in Virginia. Hull, who will be paired with German rookie Esther Henseleit, is preparing to face world number one Nelly Korda in the opening round of the competition.

Known for her dynamic presence on the course, Hull has been a notable figure since her debut in Denver at the age of 17, where Europe clinched the trophy on U.S. soil for the first time. Pettersen expressed confidence in Hull, highlighting her readiness to take on Korda and commending her interaction with the home crowd.

Despite the focus on her game, Hull’s smoking habit has sparked some discussion, especially following videos that circulated of her smoking at the U.S. Women’s Open in June. American media even labeled her the “female John Daly.” While banned from smoking during the Olympics, Hull remains unapologetic, stating that it’s simply a habit she carries on the course.

Pettersen downplayed the controversy, affirming that Hull, now an experienced player, is capable of making her own decisions. Team Europe will aim for a historic fourth consecutive win at the Solheim Cup, with Hull facing a tough challenge against Korda, who has dominated the rankings this year.
