Jordan Spieth has his say on PGA Tour’s LIV Golf talks after Tiger Woods meeting

Jordan Spieth has voiced his opinion on the ongoing discussions between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, calling the current division within men’s professional golf “unsustainable.” The negotiations, which have been in progress since June following the announcement of a framework agreement between the PGA Tour and the Saudi-backed Public Investment Fund (PIF), aim to unify the sport after two years of conflict.

Spieth, who has previously served on the PGA Tour’s Player Advisory Council, acknowledged the complexities of the talks, emphasizing that while frustrating, the process requires time and careful negotiation.

The meeting in New York last week, which included Tiger Woods, was a step toward resolving the conflict, but progress has been slow. Despite the missed deadline to finalize the deal by December 31, 2023, Spieth remains hopeful that both sides can reach an agreement.

He stressed that the situation is not due to any one party’s fault but rather the nature of complex negotiations involving multiple stakeholders, including government involvement. As the two tours continue to iron out their differences, many in the golf community eagerly await a resolution to the ongoing dispute.
