Nelly Korda, the current World No. 1 golfer, kicked off her first round at the Kroger Queen City Championship in Cincinnati with a strong performance, despite feeling the effects of a hectic schedule. After shooting five under par, she admitted to reporters that it was tough to get out of bed in the morning and joked about wanting to stay in bed all day.

Korda also emphasized her love for the competition and her fans, stating that the support from those who come to watch her play keeps her motivated, even when her energy levels are low. She finished the first round tied for eighth, just two strokes behind the leader, Ashleigh Buhai.

Reflecting on her bogey-free round, Korda expressed that minimizing mistakes on the course is both encouraging and motivating. She highlighted that golf is a game of imperfection, making such rounds particularly rewarding.

While she acknowledged the challenging conditions of the course, with inconsistent fairways affecting play, Korda remains focused on maintaining her strong performance over the next three days. Teeing off alongside Minjee Lee and Jeeno Thitikul, Korda is well-positioned to make the cut and compete through the weekend, aiming for her seventh win of 2024.
