Holger Rune has reunited with his former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, just days after his unexpected split from six-time Grand Slam champion Boris Becker. Rune, who first partnered with Mouratoglou in October 2022, saw considerable success under the Frenchman’s mentorship, including his breakthrough win at the ATP Masters 1000 in Paris and his rise into the Top-10 rankings.

Their partnership, however, ended abruptly following Rune’s early exit at the 2023 US Open. After brief stints with Becker and Severin Luthi, Rune has returned to Mouratoglou, with their collaboration set to resume at the Mexican Open, followed by the Sunshine Double.

Mouratoglou expressed his excitement about reuniting with the 20-year-old Dane, stating that he has always believed in Rune’s potential since their first meeting when Rune was 13. Rune also shared his thoughts on the renewed partnership, acknowledging the importance of trying different approaches to find the right fit.

He noted that some of his greatest achievements came under Mouratoglou’s guidance and believes this new chapter will help him reach his ambitious goals. Despite some early exits in the 2024 season, Rune remains focused on building momentum as he prepares for upcoming tournaments.
