Sam Kerr has committed her future to Chelsea by signing a new contract that will keep her at the club until 2026. Since joining Chelsea in 2019, the Australian striker has become an instrumental figure in the team’s success, helping them secure five Women’s Super League (WSL) titles, three FA Cups, and two League Cups.

Despite currently recovering from an ACL injury sustained in January during a training camp in Morocco, Kerr’s impact on the pitch remains undeniable, with 99 goals in 128 appearances for the club. In celebration of her contract extension, Chelsea has temporarily renamed Stamford Bridge as “Samford Bridge,” highlighting her immense contribution to the team.

This extension is the first major move under new Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor, who recently replaced Emma Hayes. Bompastor’s appointment comes with high expectations as she is tasked with maintaining Chelsea’s domestic dominance while strengthening their presence in European competitions.

Chelsea general manager Paul Green expressed the club’s excitement about Kerr’s continued role, describing her as a leader and one of the world’s top strikers. As Chelsea fans eagerly anticipate her return from injury, Kerr’s commitment to the club solidifies her position as a central figure in their future successes.
