Shriners Children’s Open: Lexi Thompson two-over par on PGA Tour debut

Lexi Thompson made history at the Shriners Children’s Open in Las Vegas, becoming the first woman to compete on the PGA Tour since 2018. The eleven-time LPGA Tour winner carded a two-over-par 73 in her first round, placing her in a tie for 94th going into the second round.

Despite a solid performance on her debut, Thompson faced a challenging finish after play was suspended due to darkness on Thursday evening. When play resumed Friday morning, she bogeyed the 17th hole before closing out the round with a par.

Thompson’s appearance marked her as the seventh woman to compete in a PGA Tour event, a significant milestone in her career. While she struggled to make up ground, she remained focused and resilient, eager to improve in the following rounds.
