Matildas coach calls for Sam Kerr to join camp ahead of friendlies to launch new era

Interim Matildas coach Tom Sermanni is eager to have captain Sam Kerr join the team’s camp ahead of upcoming friendlies against Switzerland and Germany, despite the striker still recovering from a torn ACL.

Sermanni, who handed Kerr her national debut in 2009, believes her presence would greatly benefit the squad, even if she’s not fit to play until later this year or early 2025.

Rising star Daniela Galic, 18, has been called into the squad for the first time, while Cortnee Vine will miss the matches for personal reasons. With a blend of experienced and young players, Sermanni aims to usher in a dynamic new era for the team following an early exit at Paris 2024.
