Rory McIlroy’s ally gets new job after making Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth fume

Jimmy Dunne, a close ally of Rory McIlroy, has been appointed to the board of Troon Golf, a global company overseeing nearly 1,000 golf clubs. Dunne, a prominent Wall Street dealmaker, previously played a critical role in brokering the controversial PGA Tour and LIV Golf deal.

Despite his efforts, he resigned from the PGA Tour’s policy board in May 2024, citing frustration with the lack of progress.

Dunne’s new role at Troon is seen as a strategic move, bringing his leadership, business acumen, and passion for golf to the company. Troon’s president, Tim Shantz, expressed enthusiasm about Dunne’s appointment, noting his potential to drive the company’s vision forward.
