“I felt like I was foggy in some of my decisions”: Jordan Spieth shares how he’s dealing with the pressure on him at the FedEx Championship

Jordan Spieth, the American golfer, reflected on the challenges he faced during the second round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Despite finishing in second place, just one stroke behind the leader, Lucas Glover, Spieth admitted to feeling mentally “foggy” in some of his decision-making.

Speaking candidly, Spieth shared that he found himself doubting club choices and struggling with execution during key moments, particularly on holes 12 and 15. He attributed these missteps to being overly focused on keeping the ball dry and admitted he “got a little lazy” with his decisions.

Adding to the pressure was the intense heat in Memphis, which Spieth described as a “different kind of heat.” He acknowledged that the heat impacted his performance more than expected, especially after an overextended warmup.

While he initially downplayed the heat to his caddie, Michael Greller, Spieth later realized how exhausting it truly was, humorously noting that he’ll bring extra shirts to future rounds. Despite these challenges, Spieth remained optimistic, drawing on his experience playing in similar conditions back home to stay competitive.
