“I think for Poults”:Justin Rose makes feelings clear on Ian Poulter being Europe’s next Ryder Cup captain

Justin Rose has shared his thoughts on Ian Poulter potentially returning to captain the European Ryder Cup team, despite the complications surrounding his move to LIV Golf. Poulter, a key figure in European Ryder Cup history, had long been viewed as a natural future captain for Team Europe.

However, his resignation from the DP World Tour following his switch to LIV Golf has cast doubt on that prospect. While his departure doesn’t officially bar him from captaining the team, it has certainly put his involvement in question, especially as the golfing world navigates the ongoing divide between traditional tours and LIV Golf.

Despite this, Rose believes there could be a pathway for Poulter to return to the fold, provided the sport finds some unity soon. Speaking at the BMW PGA Championship, Rose highlighted the need for golf to resolve its current divisions and hinted that if that happens, Poulter could still have a chance to captain Team Europe.

“I think for Poults, I can definitely see that pathway,” Rose said. Meanwhile, Poulter himself has expressed his desire to return, noting that the Ryder Cup has been a significant part of his career and expressing hope that a resolution within the sport could allow him the opportunity to lead the European team in the future.
