“It hurts”-Emma Raducanu delivers injury update and confirms tournament withdrawal

Emma Raducanu has announced her withdrawal from the China Open in Beijing due to a foot injury sustained at the Korea Open. The former British number one, who retired from her quarter-final match against Daria Kasatkina in Seoul after losing the first set 6-1, revealed that she has sprained ligaments in her foot.

Despite receiving treatment during her previous match against China’s Yue Yuan, Raducanu struggled with discomfort on serve against Kasatkina. Sharing her injury update on social media, she expressed disappointment but remained hopeful about returning to competition soon.

Looking ahead, Raducanu is scheduled to compete in the Wuhan Open starting October 7. With a current win-loss record of 20-13 for the year and a ranking just outside the world’s top 50, she has made significant progress in her post-injury recovery this season. Her performances, including a fourth-round finish at Wimbledon and a notable victory over US Open finalist Jessica Pegula, highlight her resilience.
