In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Thomas shared that one of the things he’s looking forward to during the offseason is the upcoming arrival of his and his wife Jillian’s first child, due in November.

“It’ll be great to have time to focus on a few things, work on the foundation event, get some rest, and even become a dad at the end of November,” Thomas wrote. “Even though I’m excited for the offseason, I’m already eager to practice and prepare for Maui.”

Thomas recently finished tied for 14th at the Tour Championship, concluding a season that showed some improvement for the 31-year-old golfer. While he didn’t secure any wins and is currently ranked 30th in the Official World Golf Ranking, a few spots lower than at the start of the year, he achieved seven top-12 finishes. This is an improvement over last year, where he only had four and didn’t qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs.

Despite these improvements, Thomas was not chosen by U.S. captain Jim Furyk for the Presidents Cup, marking the first team event he will miss since his debut at the 2017 Presidents Cup.

“I’m really disappointed not to be joining the team in Canada, but I understand the decision,” Thomas wrote. “Jim has selected a great team, and I’ll be their biggest supporter, watching closely and using this as motivation to never miss a team event again. Those weeks are some of my favorites.”
