“There’s no sacrifice for them”: Justin Rose tells LIV Golf stars to pay up or risk missing out on Ryder Cup selection

Justin Rose has urged LIV Golf stars Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton to settle their fines with the DP World Tour to ensure their eligibility for next year’s Ryder Cup. Rose, a Ryder Cup veteran, emphasized that there is “no sacrifice” for Rahm and Hatton, both of whom have earned substantial amounts from LIV Golf.

He suggested that paying the fines is a straightforward solution to maintaining their position in Luke Donald’s European Ryder Cup team. Rose believes the team would be weaker without them and encouraged cooperation with the current system to guarantee their place.

Rahm and Hatton, both members of LIV Golf, have faced penalties from the DP World Tour for participating in conflicting events without the necessary releases. Despite the ongoing negotiations involving the Saudi Public Investment Fund, the DP World Tour rejected LIV Golf’s offer to cover the fines on their behalf.

Rose highlighted that Rahm, who faces a fine exceeding $1 million, could easily afford the cost given his $34.8 million earnings this season. For Rose, resolving the issue is a matter of making the right decision if playing in the Ryder Cup remains a priority for the two golfers.
